About the Role
London and South East Colleges (LSEC) is seeking a Group Sustainability Manager to lead, coordinate and deliver the Group's sustainability and Carbon Net Zero agenda across both LSEC and London South East Academies Trust (LSEAT). This pivotal role will drive strategic alignment with national and local sustainability commitments, support the Group's net zero ambitions, and enhance environmental, social, and economic outcomes across the estate, operations, and curriculum. The role holder will act as a subject matter expert, embedding sustainability principles into the organisation's culture, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and maximising opportunities for innovation, funding, and partnerships. While there are currently no direct line management responsibilities, the role requires significant cross-functional collaboration and influence. This is a Group role spanning multiple sites and may evolve to include line management as the sustainability function develops.

About Us
London South East Colleges (LSEC) is a leading further and higher education provider with seven campuses across Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, and Lambeth, employing around 1000 staff. The College offers a wide range of vocational courses, apprenticeships, and degree programmes to over 13,000 students, designed to meet employer and industry needs. Committed to transforming lives through learning, LSEC promotes social mobility and creates opportunities for learners of all backgrounds. The College benefits from state-of-the-art facilities and strong partnerships with employers and universities, equipping students with skills and confidence for career success. As part of the London & South East Education Group, LSEC sponsors the London South East Academies Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust with 13 mainstream, special, and alternative provision schools across Bromley, Bexley, Surrey, and Lambeth. The Group also launched the LASER Education Foundation charity supporting disadvantaged children and families. With a combined turnover of approximately £100 million, the Group has ambitious growth plans, making this an exciting time to join and make a difference.

Benefits
Annual leave of 27 days (excluding bank holidays) plus three additional days over the Christmas break. Up to two further College closure days annually and leave for volunteering. Excellent pension schemes with employer contributions (Teachers' Pension Scheme, Local Government Pension Scheme or Nest). Additional benefits include access to an Employee Assistance Programme, free onsite parking, cycle to work/bike loan scheme, annual season ticket loan, 'Discounts for Teachers' portal, free Wifi in over 10,000 locations worldwide, Eduroam access, onsite gym at Bromley, and discounts in in-house restaurants and hair and beauty treatments.

Accreditations
The Group embraces legal and quality-assurance frameworks to develop equity, diversity, and inclusion. These accreditations provide an external lens to share and gain best practice.

Equal Opportunities
London South East Colleges is committed to being an Equal Opportunities Employer, fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace free from discrimination and harassment. Applications are welcomed from all backgrounds regardless of race, nationality, ethnic origin, religion/belief, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, parental or marital status. As a Disability Confident-Committed employer, interviews will be offered to applicants declaring a disability who meet minimum criteria. Accessibility needs and adjustments for the recruitment process are supported. In line with safeguarding guidance, social media checks and enhanced DBS checks are conducted for shortlisted candidates due to work with children and vulnerable adults. Full disclosure and DBS compliance are required as part of recruitment.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in sustainability management, preferably within education or a multi-site organisation, with the ability to lead strategic initiatives and collaborate across functions.

About you
Proactive and influential with strong communication skills. Passionate about sustainability and embedding environmental, social, and economic principles into organisational culture. Able to work flexibly across multiple locations and manage evolving responsibilities.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or demonstrable experience in sustainability, environmental management, or related fields are desirable. Commitment to continuous professional development and knowledge of statutory requirements and funding opportunities is essential.
