About the Role

Reporting to the Pro Vice Chancellor Property and Sustainability, this 12-month fixed term maternity cover role as Head of Sustainability will lead the University's Sustainability Department, providing strategic direction across environmental, social, and economic pillars of sustainability.

You will work collaboratively with staff, students, academics, and external partners to enhance sustainability performance, drive operational and behavioural change, reduce environmental impact, and ensure statutory compliance. This role involves leading multiple workstreams aligned with the University’s refreshed Sustainability Strategy and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the higher education sector.

Experience
Proven track record in sustainability with comprehensive knowledge of Greenhouse Gas emissions, carbon reduction strategies, Environmental Management Systems, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and behavioural change. Experience managing high-performing teams and working within cross-functional business environments is essential.

Qualifications
Educated to degree level in a subject related to sustainability and/or environmental management.
