About the Role
We exist to create positive change for people and the planet. Join us and make a difference too! As Head of Sustainability & ESG Reporting at The British Standards Institution (BSI), you will lead BSI's ESG reporting strategy and execution, ensuring alignment with key regulatory frameworks and stakeholder expectations. Sitting within the Group Sustainability function, you will oversee ESG-related data management, internal coordination across functions, and disclosure processes—primarily focusing on TCFD at present and preparing for potential compliance with TNFD, ISSB, CSRD, and EU Taxonomy in the future. You will coordinate the Sustainable Operations and GHG sections of BSI's Annual Report and collaborate closely with Strategy, Finance, People, Risk, and Operations teams to embed ESG reporting requirements into business-as-usual processes, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
Own and lead the end-to-end ESG reporting process including governance, planning, data collection, validation, narrative development, and assurance where applicable. Lead BSI's TCFD disclosure efforts and prepare for compliance with future ESG regulatory standards (e.g. TNFD, ISSB, CSRD, EU Taxonomy), maturing BSI's approach and reporting year on year. Collaborate with Finance, Risk, Strategy, HR, and Operational teams to embed climate, nature, and other ESG reporting metrics into workflows and strategies. Lead cross-functional working groups to align ESG reporting with BSI's corporate strategy and performance management. Coordinate input and data collection for sustainability and GHG disclosure sections of the Annual Report. Design and lead programmes to improve availability, quality, and auditability of ESG data, working closely with internal systems and data teams to enhance ESG data architecture and analytics capability. Establish ESG data governance protocols, controls, and accountability structures across departments. Stay abreast of regulatory and market developments, providing guidance and updates to internal stakeholders. Represent BSI in external stakeholder engagements and reporting forums, including ESG ratings and rankings agencies. Maintain continuous benchmarking of peers, competitors, and best practices. Identify opportunities to apply relevant BSI standards and solutions to strengthen ESG disclosure processes. Support the BSI Operational Sustainability Excellence team in activities such as Ecovadis and CDP submissions, and responses to sustainability questions in bids and tenders, enhancing BSI's commercial advantage through quality improvement and analysis.
