About the Role
Join Amentum's Technology, Consultancy & Innovation (TC&I) Business, which operates the largest network of research and development engineering laboratories in the UK. As an HSE Adviser, you will work within a multidisciplinary team of EHS professionals supporting operations and facilities management at the Birchwood Campus. Reporting directly to the Head of EHS, you will provide expert advice and assistance on all Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) matters, ensuring compliance with Nuclear, Radiological and Conventional safety legislation, guidance, and industry best practice. You will actively support the implementation of the TC&I SafeUp Strategy & Improvement Plan and promote a positive, proactive culture towards health, safety, and environmental matters across the business.
Key responsibilities include advising on hazard identification, preparing and implementing safe systems of work and risk assessments, monitoring compliance with EHS standards, conducting facility inspections, supporting operational EHS meetings, analysing data and reports, assisting in accident investigations, and delivering internal EHS training and coaching. You will also provide daily support to the Head of EHS, contribute to strategic EHS objectives, and promote inclusion and diversity within the EHS team.
This role requires a visible and credible ambassador for SafeUp, leading by example and partnering with business management to deliver sustained, superior EHS performance while demonstrating commitment to continued professional development and external networking opportunities.
Experience
- Minimum 2 to 3 years relevant industry experience in Environment, Health and Safety.
- Good working knowledge of EHS requirements and legislation.
- Experience with incident investigation methods.
- Competent communicator with strong written and verbal skills.

Qualifications
- Relevant Health and Safety qualification (NVQ Level 4/5 or NEBOSH General Certificate).
- Tech/Grad IOSH membership or working towards higher qualification.
- Relevant membership of IOSH or progressing towards a high-grade membership.
