About the Role
At AWE, our shared purpose is to help keep the nation safe. We are recruiting a HSE Manager to work alongside designers, project managers, and operators during the early stages of the facility lifecycle and rekit activities. This includes requirements capture, design, and transition from construction to operations to ensure all HSE legal requirements are met and risks to the end user are minimized.
The role focuses on influencing the design of new builds and facility rekits to identify operating hazards and incorporate risk control measures so the end facility is As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP). You will represent the end user to ensure installed equipment and processes comply with all HSE legislation, ensure all necessary licences and permits are in place prior to handover, and confirm that all HSE justifications, documentation, and arrangements demonstrate compliance.
You will be required to gain a firm understanding of AWE's Management System to manage implementation into new or changed workplaces and develop a good understanding of operational risks to address them throughout project phases. Strong interpersonal skills are essential to work constructively with various internal and external stakeholders. You may also lead hazard identification and risk mitigation workshops such as HAZOPs.
Please note this role is not primarily a construction (CDM) HSE position.

- Experience in facility design and transition to operational facilities is highly desirable.
