About the Role
We are CH&CO, a collection of specialist businesses and market-leading brands within Compass Group UK & Ireland. We are recruiting an HSE Manager for a 12-month maternity cover contract based in London. This role involves operating as one of the regional HSE managers responsible for supporting health, safety, and environmental management across all sectors within a defined geographical area aligned to specific brands. You will act as the subject matter expert and lead for specific functional topics, providing competent advice, guidance, and support to operational teams to enable them to fulfil their HSE responsibilities effectively.

Key responsibilities include reactive and proactive monitoring of HSE through incident investigation, audits, inspections, and performance data analysis. You will support new business retention and mobilisation by facilitating effective HSE standards implementation. The role requires effective liaison with sector MDs, operational leadership, and clients to communicate HSE initiatives and ensure alignment of sector-specific HSE plans with business needs.

Additional duties involve delivering health and safety, food safety, and allergen performance indicators, conducting proactive internal audits, supporting corporate HSE initiatives, and working closely with sector HSE Champions to develop a strong safety culture. Extensive travel to CH&CO sites (approximately 4 days per week) is expected to provide operational support and conduct site visits. You will also engage with HSE regulators when necessary and manage incident investigations and enforcement actions promptly.

Experience
- Proven experience managing health and safety in a multi-site environment.
- Knowledge of catering business procedures and practices.
- Experience in incident investigation, auditing, and HSE compliance.
- Ability to influence and build relationships across operational and sector management.
- Willingness to travel regularly and work away from home as required.
