The HSE Manager will lead the UK site in developing and executing a vision and strategy for Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices to maintain a safe and environmentally compliant workplace. This role is key to fostering a strong Health and Safety culture across the organisation.

The HSE Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the HSE plan for the Somercotes site, providing expert advice on HSE and legislative matters, and ensuring timely and informed business decisions. The role includes identifying training needs, delivering or coordinating HSE training, maintaining policies and procedures, and managing audits and corrective actions. The manager will oversee accident investigations, ensure necessary licenses and permits are in place, and monitor environmental factors such as noise and dust exposure.

Additional responsibilities include collaborating with HR on medical monitoring, ensuring risk and COSHH assessments are current, leading the site’s H&S management structure and committee meetings, and delivering comprehensive H&S inductions for new starters. The role also involves advising on appropriate PPE, driving continuous environmental improvements including waste reduction initiatives, and supporting global H&S initiatives by aligning site practices with corporate guidelines. The HSE Manager will work closely with site management to ensure engagement and support for all HSE activities and will proactively uphold the organisation’s health and safety standards.

Requirements

Experience
- Extensive experience as a HSE Manager within a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience in delivering training and development
- Demonstrated success in changing HSE culture within an organisation
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation and best practices
- Ability to influence and challenge at all organisational levels to maintain high HSE standards

Qualifications
- NEBOSH qualification or equivalent
