About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an HSE Manager to join the Management Team at Pilgrim's Europe, supporting and driving the site’s Health, Safety, and Environmental performance. This management role is within our Added Value Business Unit and forms part of the leadership structure responsible for HSE practices, compliance, and governance. The purpose of the role is to instil ownership and accountability across all functions by embedding the Go For Zero HSE business standards through regular inspections and proactive engagement.
Key responsibilities include championing safe and sustainable operations daily, leading by example, and promoting safety as a core condition across all functions. You will advise, guide, and coach management on environment, health, and safety matters, support the development and deployment of the HSE strategy aligned with site goals, and roll out HSE tools provided by the Central function.
Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders such as HSE Central Leadership, Engineering, Project Teams, Procurement, Operations, Technical, OPEX, and Legal is essential to manage risks, compliance, and system implementations. You will conduct periodic internal inspections and audits (ISO 45001, 14001, Insurance Inspections), support the Central HSE function, and ensure all team members receive appropriate training and resources to work safely.
Ensuring the facility complies with Central Risk frameworks and documented processes, managing site Risk Assessments, and overseeing incident recording, investigation, and corrective actions within the Pilgrim's Europe Incident Management system (Quor) are key duties. You will also champion the use and rollout of Central HSE systems to enhance safety standards, including the 3 Year Plan, QUOR, GFZ standards, Internal Compliance Audit program, and Gap Tools.
Experience
- Proven experience in HSE management within the FMCG industry is essential
- Experience in HSE, Safety, and Environmental roles in chilled manufacturing companies
- Strong understanding of HSE systems, audit standards, and the ability to influence positive change
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels including site leadership and external authorities

Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate, Level 3 or equivalent qualification/experience (essential)
