About the Role

We are seeking a HSE Manager to own, develop and lead a multi-year Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) strategy aligned with the Crop Protection R&D goals. This role supports our Goal Zero ambition, promotes employee health and wellbeing, protects the Jealott's Hill environment, and advances the HSE maturity of the site.
Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with Syngenta HSE Management System and UK legislation, leading and developing the HSE team, and managing communication for all HSE programmes and initiatives. You will drive the development of qualitative and quantitative measures to track progress, maintain a robust Emergency Management System, embed continuous improvement approaches, and foster a strong incident investigation culture. Additionally, you will maintain auditable records, exchange best practices globally, act as a member of the Infrastructure Leadership Team, and manage the HSE budget.
Jealott's Hill site is a major global research and development centre located in pleasant semi-rural surroundings between Bracknell and Maidenhead, hosting around 800 scientists and support staff. The site focuses on discovery of new active ingredients, formulation technologies, product safety, and technical support.

Experience
- Proven record of developing and leading a HSE strategic plan.
- Experience managing and developing a professional HSE team.
- Working knowledge of common HSE systems and platforms (e.g. Enablon).
- Experience working with UK regulatory bodies such as EA and DEFRA.
- Broad HSE experience ideally in life sciences or similar industries, including laboratory, office, and construction environments.
- Experience managing operational budgets.
- Experience working in complex global businesses or large international multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma level qualification or equivalent HSE qualifications.
