About the Role
Carbery Food Ingredients Ltd is seeking a proactive HS&E Specialist to support and advance our commitment to a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. This role will drive compliance with regulatory requirements, implement HS&E programs, and foster a strong safety culture across all levels of the organisation. You will partner with leadership and frontline teams to identify risks, develop and deliver training, monitor performance, and champion continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices.
You will work flexibly and collaboratively with the Management Team and staff to be a role model for demonstrating company values and professionalism. As part of the Global Carbery HSE community, you will implement agreed global programs and lead the delivery of the site HSE plan. Responsibilities include organising and chairing quarterly HSE steering meetings and monthly safety committees, generating HSE KPIs, and reporting on business performance.
Key duties include establishing and maintaining robust HSE processes, leading internal audits and risk assessments, managing SOPs, maintaining training compliance, and overseeing accident and near-miss reporting including RIDDOR. You will manage emergency response planning, contractor management, pest control services, fire safety contracts, asbestos surveys, water risk assessments, and HAZOP risk assessments.
In addition, you will lead energy and environmental programmes, manage site legislative requirements for emissions and effluent, submit ESOS data to the Environment Agency, and oversee packaging compliance submissions. The role also involves working towards year-on-year cost reductions and value additions in environmental disposal and utility consumption.
Experience
- Demonstrable working experience in implementation of Safety, Health and Environment programmes
- Track record of achieving results
- Experience with Hearts & Minds programs (desirable)
- Experience with implementation of Continuous Improvement programs (desirable)
