About the Role
This exciting Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate position is a collaboration between London Metropolitan University and Better Planet (UK) Ltd, an innovative heat pump installation SME. The role is focused on developing a building fabric-integrated heat recovery system to significantly enhance the viability of ground source heat pumps and solar PVT systems. This project aims to improve thermal performance and contribute to energy efficiency advancements within the built environment.

The Associate will be based primarily in Potters Bar, supported by experienced academics at London Met and Better Planet’s team of subject matter experts. A £4,000 training and development package is available to support your growth.

Key objectives include:
- Demonstrating the system's ability to effectively capture fabric heat as a supplementary source
- Developing and prototyping the heat source system, optimising materials and integration
- Establishing a scalable manufacturing strategy and evaluating production costs

Requirements

Experience
Practical experience with thermal energy systems, IoT energy management, energy performance monitoring in buildings, and research & development is essential. A broad understanding of IoT technologies and energy monitoring systems, along with knowledge of ground source heat pumps and solar panels, is required.

Qualifications
A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, energy systems, or a related discipline is expected. Candidates should be eligible to work in the UK and able to provide evidence of this prior to employment.
