About the Role
Do you have a passion for nature and the environment? Do you want to make a real difference and secure significant environmental gains now and for the future? As a Land Agent for Natural England, you will play a vital role in managing and supporting the Natural England Estate, which includes 134 National Nature Reserves covering some of England’s most important wildlife sites. You will work as part of a national team of Chartered Surveyors and conservation professionals, primarily covering the North of England, providing expert land agency advice to support nature recovery and manage natural capital and ecosystem services.

Your key responsibilities will include managing all tenure casework for your geographic area, providing professional advice on legal and valuation matters, engaging with internal and external advisers, and working closely with Area Teams, NNR staff, and the legal team. You will contribute to income generation by exploring traditional and emerging opportunities such as Biodiversity Net Gain and Nutrient Mitigation markets. Additionally, you will advise on acquisitions and National Nature Reserve designations, maintain property records and mapping, assist with financial processes related to the Estate, and contribute to policy and procedure reviews.

Natural England is the Government’s adviser for the natural environment, delivering the 25 Year Environment Plan and working to establish a Nature Recovery Network, monitor environmental changes, support greener food production, advise on development plans, and promote connections between people and nature. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a flexible, supportive environment with a strong focus on environmental improvement and sustainable land management.
