About the Role
bp has entered into an agreement with the Government of Iraq to invest in major oil fields in the Kirkuk province, including Baba and Avanah domes and adjacent fields Bai Hassan, Jambur, and Khabbaz. This role forms part of the central remote support team for Kirkuk and may evolve into rotational deployment on-site in Iraq. The Operations HSE Advisor reports directly to the KPOD HSE Manager and works closely with the Operations Department to ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) issues are effectively managed.
The role involves monitoring and coaching personnel on HSE matters, leading the design and implementation of the KPOD HSE management system, and ensuring compliance with HSE policies and procedures. You will provide authoritative advice on all HSE aspects, lead incident investigations, develop contractor HSE requirements, and support process safety initiatives. You will also lead and coach local national HSE personnel and foster continuous improvement in HSE performance.
Due to security and medical infrastructure limitations in Northern Iraq, stringent medical and fitness requirements apply for deployment. Experience
BSc in Engineering, Science, or HSE-related degree preferred. Proven experience in various HSE roles demonstrating progression in operational environments. Strong track record in advising and analysing HSE performance, building and implementing HSE management systems, and leading incident investigations. Experience working in multicultural environments and the Middle East is advantageous.

Professional membership required: CSP preferred; OHST or ASP required; IOSH Graduate member required (Chartered member preferred). Proven staff coaching, mentoring, and development skills. Compliance with bp’s medical and fitness requirements for deployment to Iraq, including restrictions related to BMI and infectious disease testing.
