We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead regional waste logistics and fleet operations across Leeds and Quarrington. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a large articulated fleet, including company-owned vehicles and subcontracted hauliers.
You will oversee a complex operation involving multiple operating centres, more than 100 employees and drivers, and a substantial fleet of articulated units, walking-floor trailers, and associated transport assets. The role combines transport compliance, health and safety, service delivery, operational planning, and commercial performance.
This senior operational role offers the opportunity to lead a substantial regional fleet and operational team, with responsibility spanning transport, compliance, safety, people, and commercial performance.
Experience
- Proven experience leading a large-scale logistics or transport operation.
- Experience managing articulated vehicle fleets within a regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of Operator Licence obligations and transport compliance.
- Multi-site operational management experience.
- Experience managing subcontracted haulage providers.
- Experience with operational budgets, cost control and P&L performance.
- Track record of improving safety, compliance, service and productivity.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Practical, hands-on approach with sound commercial judgement.
Qualifications
- National Transport Manager CPC qualification (essential).
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification (desirable).

You have excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage complex logistics operations across multiple sites. You are committed to maintaining high standards of safety, compliance and service delivery, and you thrive in a dynamic environment where you can make a tangible impact.
Experience within waste management, recycling or resource recovery operations is desirable, as is experience managing walking-floor trailers or similar waste transport assets and working across multiple operating centres.
