About the Role
Forestry and Land Scotland is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Peatland Technical Advisor to join our national Planning and Environment team. This is a unique opportunity to lead peatland restoration and management across Scotland’s national forests and land, contributing to climate change mitigation, biodiversity enhancement, and sustainable land use. You will provide technical advice for peatland restoration projects, particularly forest to bog transitions, working closely with regional teams, ecologists, and foresters to support large-scale projects funded by Scottish Government Peatland ACTION. Your role will also involve contributing to land management planning, infrastructure assessments, and national contract delivery while promoting best practice across the organisation. Experience
- Hands-on experience in peatland restoration, especially forest to bog projects
- Strong ecological knowledge related to peatland environments
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and advise on complex environmental projects

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident in providing technical advice and leading projects at a national level
Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in ecology, environmental science, forestry, or related disciplines are desirable
