About the Role
This is an exciting time to join Walsall Council as we progress our new Walsall Borough Local Plan that will support the delivery of new housing, employment opportunities and sustainable infrastructure while addressing important planning issues such as climate change, protecting and enhancing the natural and built environment, and improving the health and well-being of our communities. Walsall is a regional town with many sites designated for their ecological importance. You will join our Environment team within the wider Planning & Building Control Service to assist with the plan-making process and the delivery of our ecology service. This role is key to embedding opportunities for nature conservation, biodiversity, and sustainable green infrastructure into policies and proposals that safeguard and enhance existing habitats and ecological networks. You will provide ecological advice on development proposals, support nature recovery and regeneration projects, monitor the Walsall local site schedule, and contribute to the delivery and monitoring of Biodiversity Net Gain. We are particularly interested in candidates with qualifications and experience in the ecological profession to support our senior experts. Experience
Relevant experience in the planning profession with a good knowledge of planning legislation, including environmental legislation. Experience in ecological work related to planning is highly desirable.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide clear ecological advice on development proposals. Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and working arrangements.
Qualifications
