About the Role
Established in 2021, Opportunity Green is a fast-growing not-for-profit organisation that helps to identify and unlock opportunities to tackle climate change. We build ambitious coalitions, support climate vulnerable countries in international negotiations and find innovative legal pathways to fight climate change. The Climate Diplomacy team works to support climate vulnerable countries in their efforts to bring down emissions from high emitting sectors through multilateral negotiations and agreements, with a particular focus on securing the climate finance these countries need. We are now looking for a Policy Officer – Climate Diplomacy to help the team expand its engagement with climate vulnerable countries in shipping and aviation, as well as supporting Opportunity Green in tackling new, high-emitting sectors such as agriculture and data centres. As a Policy Officer in our Climate Diplomacy team, you will work to address the injustice of the climate crisis by supporting climate vulnerable countries to advocate for ambitious and equitable decarbonisation of sectors that are not doing enough to align their emissions with the Paris Agreement. You will support the team by providing technical capacity support, policy analysis, and advice to help these countries advocate for ambition during multilateral negotiations. Your work will include drafting technical briefings, engaging with negotiators, and identifying synergies across Opportunity Green’s initiatives.

Experience
Policy development or analysis skills; experience in stakeholder engagement; ability to work independently and collaboratively; excellent communication skills.
