About the Role
Compass is entering an exciting new period for UK politics and is seeking a Political and Campaigns Organiser to join our growing team. We have a long history of bold national campaigns, local groups across the country, and a newly launched political network organising within the Labour Party called Mainstream. This role will support our national campaigns for electoral reform and public ownership of water, while also working closely with our organising team to support local groups and progressive party organising, particularly within the Labour Party.
The Political and Campaigns Organiser will have particular responsibility for running impactful events and coordinating our network of local groups across England. You will strategise, plan, and coordinate actions with local groups and the organising team, deliver a wide range of events from large annual gatherings to smaller online meetings, and engage Compass’ member and supporter base to maximise impact and attract younger activists.
Day-to-day activities may include meeting local groups to plan campaigns, managing event logistics such as venue and catering, writing communications to activists, conducting desk research to support political engagement, drafting template motions for political parties, and building relationships with members interested in starting local groups.
This role requires flexibility, energy, and the ability to work collaboratively within a small, lively team and with groups holding diverse perspectives. You will receive managerial support and opportunities to develop your skills over time. The position is full-time with a 3-month probationary period and is available immediately.

- Experience managing and running both online and in-person events as part of a team.
- Experience working with volunteers, activists, and groups with differing beliefs to build trust and achieve common goals.
- Understanding of the UK progressive political scene, particularly the Labour Party, and alignment with Compass’ aims, vision, and values.
About you
- Strong interest in UK politics, especially the Labour Party, with a clear understanding of the political context, sensitive issues, and the culture Compass represents.
- Open-minded, flexible, and eager to learn new skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate and bring people together both online and in person.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently to agreed schedules.
- Confident managing competing priorities across multiple fronts.
- Enthusiastic and passionate about political change and committed to working towards it.
Qualifications
- No specific formal qualifications required. Willingness to learn and develop skills on the job is essential.
