Location
Bristol or Cardiff office. Both locations offer excellent commuting options with Bristol Temple Meads Train Station a 10-minute walk from the Bristol office and Cardiff Central and Queen Street Train Stations within a 10-minute walk of the Cardiff office. Both offices provide easy access to their respective city centres.

About the Role

This role is suited for an experienced Electrical Engineer at Principal, Associate or Associate Director level with a proven track record in delivering projects aligned with client expectations. You will work in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team, providing design and technical advice while supporting project management across a wide range of projects.

You will review design programmes, ensure sufficient resource allocation, and work with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of your discipline or apply specialist experience relevant to the role. You will interpret client and project needs to deliver comprehensive solutions, promote WSP’s capabilities in the region, and supervise detailed design completion and junior staff development.

Responsibilities include leading feasibility studies, directing the production of detailed and performance specifications, and managing junior staff. The Building Services teams in Bristol and Cardiff consist of mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers as well as sustainability consultants, forming part of a national MEP team of nearly 400 engineers. Experience
- Proven track record delivering a variety of projects across different scales and sectors.
- Ability to engage effectively with clients, contractors, and design team members in technical discussions and coordination.
- Experience working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software and electrical design software packages.
- Electrical design skills including low voltage distribution systems, cable calculations (ElectricalOM, Amtech or manual), lighting calculations, energy lighting, small power, fire detection and alarm, intruder detection, access control and security systems, disabled call systems, data cabling and outlets, and lightning protection.
- Ability to sketch and communicate technical details graphically to construction professionals and clients.
- Understanding of relevant regulations and ability to demonstrate compliance through calculations.
- Capability to obtain UK Security Check (SC) vetting level.

Qualifications
