About the Role
The Woodland Trust is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead the transformation of our data management and integration processes, supporting data architecture aligned with our conservation mission. You will lead the design and implementation of data models that support our organisational goals and conservation efforts. This role involves designing integration patterns to ensure seamless data flow between internal and external solutions, establishing and facilitating a robust data governance framework to maintain data accuracy, privacy, compliance, and optimal usage. You will oversee the operation of legacy systems while transitioning to modern data management technologies and lead the development of an observability strategy for our data and integration platforms. Supporting a comprehensive data strategy, you will help advance data maturity, quality, governance, and capability, laying the foundation for data analytics and AI to enable data-driven insights that enhance our conservation work. This role offers a hybrid working model with a mix of remote work and office visits.

Requirements

Experience
- Leading data transformation initiatives within complex environments
- Knowledge of enterprise data architecture and data modelling
- Leading projects and designing enterprise integration patterns for internal and external solutions
- Managing transitions from legacy systems to modern data platforms
- Strong skills with Azure data technologies and practical application
- Designing, building, and maintaining integrations using Azure Integration Services
- Knowledge of DevOps practices for data and integrations
- Developing and implementing data strategies to enhance data quality, governance, and management practices
- Experience in the environmental, charity, or fundraising sectors is desirable

Qualifications
