About the Role
At WSP, you can shape a career as unique as you. We are seeking an experienced flood risk specialist to lead, coordinate and deliver technically complex Flood Risk Assessment projects for a wide range of clients. This senior leadership role within our national Sustainable Water Management team offers the opportunity to influence major UK and international infrastructure schemes. You will work across Flood Risk Assessment, flood modelling, LLFA technical services, Water EIA and wider water environment disciplines. Additionally, you will mentor junior colleagues and play a key role in shaping the continued growth of our national team. We can appoint at Principal or Associate level depending on experience.

You will lead high profile infrastructure projects, guiding Flood Risk Assessments and related technical inputs for major UK and overseas schemes, including nationally significant infrastructure projects. You will help develop services across Flood Risk Assessment, Water EIA, permitting, geomorphology, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and flood management solutions. Working as part of a national team, you will collaborate with specialists across the UK with fair and transparent allocation of project work aligned to your interests and development goals. You will build strong client relationships with major organisations such as National Highways, Network Rail, National Grid and Lead Local Flood Authorities. Supporting and mentoring others, you will guide junior colleagues, review technical outputs and contribute to capability development across the team.

Your responsibilities will include leading the delivery of Flood Risk Assessment projects, coordinating inputs from multidisciplinary teams, managing client relationships and acting as a key interface across planning, design and environmental teams. You will prepare and review technical deliverables including FRA, Drainage Strategies, Water EIA inputs and supporting documents for planning and permitting. Supporting business development by identifying opportunities and contributing to successful proposals, you will also manage project budgets, programmes and quality, ensuring high standards of health and safety. Providing technical guidance, training and oversight for junior colleagues, you will contribute to innovation and the continued development of WSP's capability in flood risk and the wider water environment.

Requirements

Experience

Practical project management experience including budget, programme and team coordination. Excellent communication skills with experience managing client and stakeholder relationships.

About you
Experienced flood risk specialist with leadership capabilities and a collaborative approach. Able to mentor and support junior colleagues while contributing to team growth. Motivated to work on landmark projects and make a positive impact on communities. Flexible and adaptable to hybrid working and part-time arrangements.
