About the Role
We are the UK's largest ports operator, managing a network of 21 ports around Britain and handling around one quarter of the UK's seaborne trade, contributing £7.5 billion to the economy annually. ABPmer, our consultancy and survey company with a 75-year history, supports sustainable development, management, protection, and operation in the marine environment across all marine and coastal sectors. We are seeking a Principal Marine Environmental Consultant to join our team of environment specialists. In this role, you will manage and advise on a wide range of large-scale marine and coastal projects, including Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects. You will work closely with clients from conservation bodies, fisheries, coastal developers, dredging companies, ports, renewable energy providers, utilities, government, and agencies. Your responsibilities will include project management, environmental assessments, marine licensing and consenting, and business development. Experience
At least five years' relevant experience in a consultancy or regulatory background, with demonstrable project management experience. Experience in environmental assessments such as Environmental Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, Water Framework Directive assessments, Marine Conservation Zone assessments, and Marine Plan Conformance assessments is highly desirable. Experience coordinating projects through marine licensing and consenting processes and involvement in business development is also important.

You are highly organised, collaborative, and self-motivated with excellent report writing and engaging presentation skills. You have a strong commitment to sustainable development in the marine environment and are knowledgeable about the UK marine planning and consents regime. You are capable of staff mentoring and development and thrive in a consultancy environment.
Qualifications
You hold a degree or postgraduate degree in a marine environmental discipline or a closely related field.
