We are seeking a talented Principal Traffic & Parking Engineer to join our growing Liveable Places team. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of streets, town centres and communities through innovative parking, traffic management and kerbside solutions.

As part of one of the UK's leading multidisciplinary consultancies, you will work with local authorities, combined authorities, developers and public sector clients to deliver projects that support sustainable transport, placemaking and thriving communities.

In this role, you will lead and deliver a wide range of parking, traffic regulation and kerbside management projects. You will develop Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs), parking strategies, reviews and parking management schemes, working collaboratively with the Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) team. You will advise clients on parking policy, enforcement and kerbside management, manage project budgets, programmes and resources, and collaborate with colleagues across transport planning, active travel, highways, road safety, placemaking and urban design.

You will also support public consultations, stakeholder engagement and committee reports, build and maintain strong client relationships, identify opportunities for new work, and support business development activities including bids and framework opportunities.

WSP's Liveable Places team is our specialist place-making and local government consultancy business, helping clients create sustainable, accessible and thriving communities. Our expertise spans public realm, active travel, road safety, traffic signals, parking, people movement, placemaking, inclusive design and development management. We work collaboratively with clients and communities to deliver practical, people-focused solutions that leave a positive legacy.

Requirements

Experience
- Delivering parking and traffic management projects within consultancy, local authority or related environments.
- Strong knowledge of parking policy, Traffic Regulation Orders and traffic & parking design standards.
- Experience working with local authority clients and stakeholders.
- Managing projects and client relationships.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery.

Qualifications
- Professional membership of CIHT, TPS, ICE or a similar institution is advantageous.
- Chartered status or a desire to work towards professional qualification.
- Knowledge of moving traffic enforcement schemes and experience supporting Controlled Parking Zones and parking strategy development is desirable.
