About the Role
Are you passionate about nature and looking to make a real impact on Yorkshire’s wild spaces? Join one of the UK’s fastest-growing nature conservation charities as a Project Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to join our North Project team and undertake landscape and catchment-scale habitat restoration and creation across Yorkshire. You will primarily support delivery of river restoration projects in the Foss and Esk catchments, with opportunities to support other projects within the team. You will lead and coordinate the delivery of river restoration work on the Esk and Foss catchments, managing delegated projects and budgets. Collaborating closely with partners, you will develop new initiatives and secure funding while maintaining strong relationships with funders and stakeholders. Your responsibilities include recruiting and supporting volunteers, coordinating surveys, and delivering on-the-ground interventions in partnership with landowners and contractors. You will ensure timely reporting and assist with record keeping of interventions and surveys, including some input into the project’s GIS mapping. Additionally, you will help organise and support public engagement events and activities to raise awareness of the project's value. This role requires excellent knowledge of river and wetland habitats and species, and a willingness to undertake regular hands-on physical work. Self-motivated and well-organised, you will be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, and confident engaging with stakeholders, volunteers, and contractors.
Experience
Proven knowledge of river and wetland habitats and species is essential. Experience in project delivery, volunteer coordination, and working with landowners and contractors is highly desirable.
