About the Role

Edmonton Operations is the second-largest production facility in Great Britain, producing approximately 150 million cases of drinks per year across seven manufacturing lines. It is the only site in GB producing Oasis drinks, with over 300 employees across Manufacturing, QESH, and Engineering. This role offers excellent career opportunities both within Edmonton and across other GB sites.
We are seeking a Senior Safety, Quality and Environment Manager to lead our site's safety and quality agenda with strategic vision and hands-on execution. You will ensure compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations while fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all projects and operations adhere to site safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality standards.
- Drive proactive risk identification and mitigation.
- Collaborate with product management, manufacturing, and distribution teams to implement process improvements enhancing safety, quality, and environmental sustainability.
- Lead the development of a bottom-up Annual Business Plan aligned with SQE priorities and manage budgets including labour, laboratory enhancements, and compliance requirements.
- Provide engineering expertise to solve complex issues prioritizing safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes.
- Champion continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering team.
- Promote adoption of safe, sustainable technologies improving site performance and compliance.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, incorporating relevant knowledge into project planning and execution.
You will have ultimate responsibility for leading and developing the on-site QESH function, including:
- Defining and delivering the site's Safety, Quality and Environmental strategy aligned with business and corporate goals.
- Championing a culture of safety, quality, environment, and accountability across all levels.
- Leading and coaching cross-functional teams including Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Health & Safety, Environmental practices, and Compliance.
- Overseeing compliance with local regulations (e.g. HSE, Environment Agency) and global standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 45001, GMP, and HACCP.
- Ensuring effective systems for product release, investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and CAPA management.
- Conducting and preparing for internal and external audits, acting as the primary contact for regulators and key customers.
- Owning and driving the Quality Management System (QMS) and EHS programs, embedding a right-first-time mindset.
- Monitoring, analysing, and acting on safety and quality KPIs to drive continuous improvement in yield, waste, and performance.
- Partnering with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to deliver robust risk assessments, safe systems of work, and process control standards.
- Leading incident investigations and embedding learnings across the site.
- Building trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Regulatory Authorities, Customers, Unions, and Corporate Functions.
- Collaborating closely with People and Culture, Engineering, and Operational teams to embed best practices in training, onboarding, and employee engagement.
Experience
- Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Life Sciences, Chemical or related technical field.
- Experience in Quality and/or Safety roles, ideally within FMCG or pharmaceutical sectors.
- Proven track record managing cross-functional teams and leading in a matrixed organisation.
- Strong focus on Health, Safety & Environment compliance as well as Quality Management.
- Experience with regulatory audits, Quality Management Systems (QMS), and risk management.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and safety compliance within manufacturing (e.g. PUWER, LOTO, IOSH, NEBOSH is a plus).
- Experience working in FMCG or large business environments preferred.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and ability to assess risk and overcome obstacles.

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical field.
- Professional certifications related to Health, Safety & Environment (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH) are advantageous but not mandatory.
