About the Role
Prysmian Group, a global leader in cabling solutions, is seeking a Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Manager to support the EGL1 project. This full-time, site-based role involves managing the SHEQ team for onshore installation activities carried out by Prysmian and its contractors, reporting directly to the UK Utilities SHEQ Manager. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with UK CDM Regulations as Principal Contractor, actively participating in site safety tours, audits, and health and safety meetings. Responsibilities include creation and review of RAMS, issuing permits to work for high-risk activities, collaborating with environmental and sustainability leads to meet project targets, reviewing and updating Safety, Environmental and Quality plans, and promoting a strong health and safety culture across the team and site.
The project scope covers site establishment, fencing, access roads, trial holes, topsoil stripping, haul roads, road and ditch crossings, proving pits, duct proving and cleaning, joint bay excavation, cable installation and jointing, reinstatement, demobilisation, and more. You will ensure all non-conformances, accidents, and incidents are reported and closed out per Prysmian procedures, lead investigations with root cause analysis, and report KPIs to the UK SHEQ Manager.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager.
- Previous role on Renewable Energy, HVDC or Transmission Projects preferred.
- Experience working for a Principal Contractor under UK CDM Regulations.
- Competent in onshore civil and energy construction projects.
- Familiarity with Scottish Power, Iberdrola and/or National Grid projects is advantageous but not essential.
- Customer-facing experience managing tier contractors and small teams.

Qualifications
- Nationally recognized Health and Safety certificate (NEBOSH, NVQ, NCRQ) or equivalent.
- Membership of IOSH.
- Valid CSCS or CCNSG card.
- Knowledgeable in ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management systems.
- Fully conversant with UK Health and Safety legislation.
- Active Continual Professional Development as a Health and Safety professional.
- Proficient in ALARP Risk Management Principles.
