About the Role
Thomson Environmental Consultants is seeking a Senior Aquatic Consultant to join our dynamic and growing team. You will lead and deliver complex aquatic ecology and hydrology projects, managing surveys, conducting data analysis, and preparing high-quality technical reports and environmental assessments for riverine and estuarine environments. As a technical expert, you will ensure all deliverables meet regulatory and investigatory standards. In addition to project delivery, you will mentor junior staff within the freshwater team and contribute to business development by preparing quotes, tenders, and building strong client relationships. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects including ecological appraisals, water quality monitoring, fish surveys, habitat assessments, and regulatory compliance studies. Experience
- Proven experience in aquatic ecology, hydro-ecology, or related fields.
- Strong technical knowledge of ecology and hydro-ecology survey techniques, assessments, legislation, and project management.
- Experience at Consultant or Senior Consultant level in environmental consultancy is desirable.
- Expertise in biological indices and aquatic ecosystem health assessments including macroinvertebrate surveys and analysis.
- Experience in hydro-ecology monitoring such as water quality, water level, and flow gauging.
- Full, clean UK driving licence with access to a car and business insurance.

Qualifications
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in aquatic ecology, hydro-ecology, or environmental science.
- Demonstrable knowledge of environmental assessments such as nutrient neutrality, Water Framework Directive, Habitat Regulations, Environmental Impact Assessments, and related permits and licenses.
