About the Role
Join Devon County Council’s ambitious Climate and Sustainability Team and play a key role in driving down carbon emissions and building a sustainable future for Devon. Working closely with the Procurement Team and service leads, you will shape specifications, influence contract management, and engage directly with suppliers to improve environmental outcomes. This highly collaborative role involves working across the council and with external partners as part of the Environmental Sustainability Group, which covers climate, ecology, heritage, landscape, flood and coastal risk. You will also have the opportunity to develop and lead wider climate and sustainability projects and contribute to the Devon Climate Emergency and other environmental partnerships. The team’s work includes climate resilience, energy planning, renewable energy deployment, building retrofit, carbon offsetting, low carbon travel solutions, local food initiatives, and community and schools engagement. Devon County Council is committed to becoming a net-zero organisation by 2030 and supporting the county to reach net-zero by 2050. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in one of the UK’s most environmentally diverse and beautiful regions, with flexible working and a supportive team environment.
