About the Role
We are seeking an agricultural policy social research and evaluation expert to join our growing team at senior consultant level within ICF's European Policy, Research, Evaluation and Strategy unit. ICF provides independent policy research, evaluation, and analytical support to the Defra group and other UK public sector clients. Our work delivers robust evidence and strategic support to policy-makers and regulators, using the latest research and evaluation methodologies, advanced data science, and behavioural insights. The role offers opportunities to work across agricultural, agri-environment, and marine policy portfolios addressing critical challenges at the forefront of today's policy agenda.

Your main responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking social research on agricultural and agri-environment issues
- Conducting evaluations of agricultural and agri-environment programmes and policies
- Leading and coordinating research project teams
- Leading and contributing to proposal development, including team building, methodology design, and budgeting
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients and external networks

Experience
- Demonstrable interest and knowledge of UK and EU agricultural and environmental policy and contexts
- Expertise in the design and implementation of a range of evaluation approaches and methods, including theory-based approaches
- Expertise in social research methods and behavioural science
- Experience managing research projects, budgets, teams, and client interactions
- Experience writing competitive bids and/or grant applications
- Relevant professional experience of at least 5 years
- Prior consulting experience is advantageous but not essential; candidates from academia, government, and non-governmental sectors are welcome

- Degree, Master's degree, or PhD in a relevant discipline
