About the Role
RPS, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking an experienced Senior/Principal Sustainability Consultant to join our EIA & Sustainability team. Our experts provide practical sustainability advice across sectors including real estate, waste, timber, energy, and infrastructure. You will work within our Internal Net Zero Carbon Group, managing a variety of consultancy projects focused on sustainability principles and climate change at both asset and corporate levels.
Your typical responsibilities will include acting as the primary contact for clients, completing climate change assessments for development projects by quantifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, evaluating climate resilience and adaptation, and preparing Environmental Statement chapters. You will draft technical reports such as climate change chapters, GHG assessments, sustainability and corporate/net zero carbon (NZC) strategies and roadmaps. You will provide expert advice to private and public sector organisations on NZC strategies, emission reduction actions, and disclosure of GHG emissions and climate risks aligned with UK and international reporting standards.
Additional duties include advising on legal requirements, policy, and guidance related to sustainability, preparing strategy and disclosure reports in line with standards such as SECR, TCFD, TNFD, and IFRS, mentoring and managing junior team members, and supporting bid/tender document preparation with the bid team.

Experience
- Proven experience delivering and supervising technical sustainability projects across a variety of clients and sectors.
- Strong knowledge of GHG reduction actions and robust emissions quantification.
- Comfortable in client-facing consultancy roles.
- Expertise in climate change, carbon footprinting, sustainability, and ESG reporting.
- Experience with the EIA process and policy for development projects and/or developing organisational low-carbon strategies.

- Skilled at mentoring and managing junior team members.
- Able to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
- Typically holds an MSc or further qualification in Sustainability, Climate Change, EIA, or Environmental Management.
