Salary
Band 12: £41,771 - £45,091 per annum plus a Market Forces Supplement of £3,500 from 1st June 2025 to 30th June 2026 (pro-rata and paid for months completed in post). Graduate Environmental Health Officers will be appointed on Band 11: £38,220 - £40,777.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and suitably qualified Senior Environmental Health Officer to join our busy Commercial Services team. This role is ideal for experienced and food competent officers, but applications are also encouraged from candidates who can demonstrate the ability to meet Food Standards Agency competence criteria within a short timeframe, including graduates. Graduate officers will be expected to learn quickly on the job with support provided to achieve full professional status and Food Standards Agency competence as part of a career progression scheme.
The post involves a wide range of duties including food and health and safety interventions, investigating reports of communicable diseases, complaint and accident investigations. Opportunities to gain experience in port health and public health work will also be available. There may be some requirement to work across other environmental health disciplines.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to undertake the role effectively, ideally with recent enforcement experience. This is a full-time post, but part-time and job share applications are welcome. Please indicate your preference on your application.

Experience
Ideally recent enforcement experience within environmental health. Ability to provide sound, reasonable judgement, particularly under pressure.

Qualifications
Relevant qualification in Environmental Health to degree standard or equivalent. Registered Environmental Health Practitioner holding an EHRB certificate of registration or equivalent, or working towards Chartered Status. Graduate candidates must be able to meet Food Standards Agency competence criteria within a short timeframe and will receive support to achieve full professional status.
