About the Role
Join Balfour Beatty's Power T&D team as a Senior Environmental Sustainability Manager on the Beauly Blackhillock Peterhead project in Elgin. You will play a pivotal role in delivering complex and meaningful work that impacts millions. Reporting to the Regional Head of Environmental Sustainability and working closely with Project Directors, you will provide strategic input at the project level and operational leadership to ensure the successful delivery of environmental objectives. This role combines technical expertise with team leadership, overseeing Environmental Sustainability (ES) Managers and driving performance, compliance, and innovation across multiple projects. You will shape project-specific sustainability strategies, advise senior stakeholders, mitigate environmental risks, and foster a culture of environmental leadership and continuous improvement within your portfolio.

You will lead the implementation of environmental sustainability strategies aligned with regional agendas and business priorities, oversee environmental performance and compliance, manage and develop ES Managers and Advisors, and act as a key advisor to Project Directors. Responsibilities include conducting site inspections and audits, engaging with clients and regulators, supporting environmental documentation development, contributing to regional ES strategy, representing the ES function in work-winning activities, sharing best practices, delivering training, and ensuring accurate reporting of environmental KPIs and incidents. You will also support regional initiatives and demonstrate visible sustainability leadership through active engagement with project teams.

Requirements

Experience
- Registered Environmental Professional with strong knowledge of environmental management in construction environments.
- Practical experience with environmental statutory requirements including legislation, ecology mitigation, licensing, consent applications, and regulation.
- Proven ability to achieve results through managing others and building high-performing, inclusive teams.
- Experience in environmental compliance, audits, and stakeholder engagement.
- Skilled in interpreting and managing data, record keeping, and writing detailed reports.
- Literate in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Willingness and flexibility to travel to worksites and offices across Scotland and attend occasional UK-wide meetings.

Qualifications
- Registered Environmental Professional status is required.
- Relevant qualifications and experience in environmental sustainability and construction industry compliance.
