About the Role
Join Balfour Beatty's Power T&D team as a Senior Environmental Sustainability Manager on the Beauly Blackhillock Peterhead project in Elgin. Reporting to the Regional Head of Environmental Sustainability and working closely with Project Directors, you will provide strategic input at the project level and operational leadership to ensure successful delivery of environmental objectives. This role combines technical expertise with team leadership, overseeing Environmental Sustainability (ES) Managers and driving performance, compliance, and innovation across multiple complex or high-value projects. You will shape project-specific sustainability strategies, advise senior project stakeholders, and mitigate environmental risks. Building a high-performing team and fostering a culture of environmental leadership and continuous improvement within your portfolio will be key to your success.
Your responsibilities will include leading the implementation of environmental sustainability strategies aligned with regional and business priorities, ensuring environmental compliance through site inspections, audits, and engagement with clients and regulators. You will support the development and review of environmental documentation, contribute to regional ES strategy, represent the ES function in project-level work winning activities, and promote best practices and innovation. Additionally, you will deliver and support environmental and sustainability training, ensure timely reporting of environmental performance and incidents, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience
- Proven experience in environmental management within a construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of environmental statutory requirements including legislation, ecology mitigation, licensing, consent applications, and regulation.
- Experience managing and developing teams to achieve results.
- Practical experience in environmental compliance, audits, and risk mitigation.
- Ability to interpret and manage data, maintain consistent records, and write detailed reports.
- Experience visiting worksites and offices, with flexibility to travel across Scotland and the UK.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Qualifications
- Registered Environmental Professional status is required.
