About the Role
We are looking for a committed and skilled Grounds person to join our Urban Greenspaces team. You will play a vital role in delivering high-quality horticultural and grounds maintenance services across our parks, estates, and open spaces—helping us to keep Enfield’s outdoor environments clean, safe, attractive, and welcoming for all residents. As part of a hardworking and dedicated team, you will carry out a broad range of horticultural, grounds maintenance, and environmental management tasks in line with Service Level Agreements and council standards. You will communicate professionally with residents and colleagues, respond positively to enquiries, and support safe and effective service delivery across the borough.
Enfield Council is committed to creating a cleaner, greener, and more inclusive borough. Our Environment and Communities department plays a key role in enhancing public spaces and delivering high-quality services to residents. We value collaboration, innovation, and respect, and are proud to support a diverse and multicultural community. We encourage a culture that puts customers at the heart of everything we do by empowering our people to work together to find solutions, be open, honest and respectful, take responsibility, and listen and learn.
In addition to a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous annual leave, pension scheme, and access to training and development programmes, we offer a supportive team culture that values collaboration and personal growth, opportunities to contribute to meaningful environmental projects across the borough, access to Council wellbeing initiatives and staff networks, and a chance to make a visible impact in your local community.
Experience
Proven experience delivering a wide range of grounds maintenance and horticultural duties is essential. Experience operating and maintaining equipment, tools, and vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes is required.
About you
You will take pride in delivering excellent service and thrive in a team environment. You must engage positively with the public, providing advice and assistance as needed. You will support the upkeep of green spaces in parks, housing estates, and highways, carry out basic documentation such as pre-start checks and work programme updates, report defects, complaints, accidents, and near-misses promptly, and support colleagues including assisting with on-the-job training and guiding more junior staff when required.
Qualifications
A valid UK driving licence is required. Relevant horticultural or grounds maintenance qualifications are desirable but not essential. Commitment to health and safety and council standards is expected.
