About the Role
The Health and Safety of our colleagues is the core foundation to how we operate at apetito every day. As part of the HSE Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our people and contractors can work in the safest and most effective way possible, operating within the relevant UK legal framework. apetito is growing and embarking on a new chapter by building a state-of-the-art frozen food manufacturing facility named "Kitchen West" in Trowbridge. This full-time on-site role will manage all HSE aspects from the construction phase through to the operation of the new facility and beyond.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Managing Client HSE duties on a £100m building project in line with CDM regulations until early 2027
- Overseeing operational HSE design aspects for new machinery and ensuring plant & equipment are HSE production ready
- Implementing relevant HSE training for the new facility
- Collaborating with the sustainability team to develop ISO 50001 for energy performance optimization
- Supporting the Head of HSE in developing new safety standards aligned with business risk profiles
- Post-2027, ensuring compliance of new equipment, developing HSE training, leading risk assessments, incident investigations, and reporting on HSE KPIs
- Engaging with shop floor personnel to identify improvements and drive behavioural and cultural safety enhancements
- Ensuring compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and other relevant standards
- Liaising with regulatory bodies and managing environmental reporting and sustainability initiatives

Experience
- Proven experience in a senior HSE role within manufacturing or similar sectors
- Strong knowledge and practical application of UK HSE legislation and best practices
- Experience managing Client H&S duties under CDM regulations
- Experience managing ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001 certifications
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage multi-functional teams

Qualifications
- Essential: NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent HSE qualification
- Desirable: Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards it
- Desirable: Environmental qualification such as IEMA
