About the Role
Wirral Council is seeking a highly experienced and motivated senior waste management professional to lead the establishment of the new Refuse Collection and Street Cleansing Contract and arrangements. This career-defining role includes contract award and mobilisation, delivering a new refuse collection system, and leading a service transformation. You will recruit and manage a bespoke team to deliver a behaviour change programme aimed at transforming recycling, re-use, and upcycling performance across Wirral. The Senior Manager will represent Wirral on the Liverpool City Region Waste Management Partnership, supporting coordination of the City Region's waste management and treatment arrangements. Additionally, you will lead the management of street cleansing services borough-wide and act as a key consultee on the design and servicing requirements of major regeneration and public realm programmes transforming Wirral.

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Climate Emergency and Environment, you will be a member of the portfolio's senior management team, providing joint leadership and strategic direction for Wirral's environmental services. - Proven experience managing large and complex environmental service contracts and partnerships
- Experience delivering large change management programmes
- Strong background in community engagement and working with residents to design services and increase participation in environmental enhancement
- Experience working with senior stakeholders including council members and managing complex partnerships
