About the Role
Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a highly experienced and motivated senior waste management professional to lead the establishment of the new Refuse Collection and Street Cleansing Contract and arrangements. This career-defining role involves contract award and mobilisation, delivering a new refuse collection system and service transformation, and recruiting a bespoke team to deliver a behaviour change programme aimed at improving recycling, re-use, and upcycling performance across Wirral. The Senior Manager will represent Wirral on the Liverpool City Region Waste Management Partnership to support the coordination of regional waste management and treatment arrangements. Additionally, the role includes leading the management of street cleansing services borough-wide and acting as a key consultee on the design and servicing requirements of significant regeneration and public realm programmes transforming Wirral.

Experience
Proven experience managing large and complex environmentally related service contracts and partnerships. Demonstrated success in delivering large change management programmes. Experience in community engagement and working collaboratively with residents to design services and increase participation in environmental enhancement. Experience working with senior and ward-level Council Members and managing multi-stakeholder partnerships.
