We are looking for a Senior or Principal Engineer to join our growing Liveable Places team in Newcastle. WSP's Liveable Places team works with a wide range of local authority and private clients across the UK to help them achieve their placemaking ambitions.

As a Principal Engineer, you will lead the delivery of a wide range of schemes from concept to delivery, including public realm, active travel, traffic engineering, road safety, parking, traffic signals and traffic modelling. You will support bid preparation and mentor more junior colleagues.

This varied role includes:
- Preparing and overseeing multiple sustainable transport and public realm projects from early concept and business case development through to detailed design and on-site implementation.
- Managing project programmes, budgets, risks, reporting and change control to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Managing internal and external client relationships.
- Collaborating with team members and other business disciplines.
- Supporting successful project delivery in line with WSP project management frameworks, APM best practice and relevant health and safety requirements.
- Contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team culture and supporting the continued growth of the Liveable Places team.

Experience
- HND or degree in Civil Engineering, other relevant degree or equivalent work experience.
- Strong experience delivering highways, public realm or transport infrastructure projects from concept through to construction.
- Technical knowledge and experience in the assessment and design of highways and transportation engineering projects.
- Experience delivering public realm, active travel or transport schemes in complex urban environments.
- Proven ability to manage project programmes, budgets, cost control and financial reporting across multiple live projects.
- Experience applying design standards and current good practice in scheme design.
- Proficiency with software including AutoCAD, AutoTrack, KeySign, KeyLine or Civil 3D.
