About the Role
Join Mission Zero Technologies, a London-based climate tech startup pioneering direct air capture (DAC) technology to recover historic CO₂ emissions from the atmosphere. As a Senior R&D Engineer, you will play a key role in transitioning the company from an innovative R&D startup to a global player scaling DAC technology. Reporting to the R&D lead, you will guide the ideation, design, development, and implementation of separations technologies critical to our DAC solutions. You will collaborate closely with scientists, engineers, operators, and technicians across R&D, Engineering-to-Operations, and the wider product team. Your expertise will span a broad range of separation technologies, supporting their development from lab scale through pilot to commercial deployment.
You will contribute to innovation in separations by identifying and adapting novel technologies, focusing on ion management, gas/liquid separations, solvent longevity, solution separation and filtration, and water management. Key technologies include reverse osmosis, forward osmosis, nano/micro/ultrafiltration, membrane degassing, ion exchange, and other separation processes. You will analyze performance data from test stands, pilot operations, and plants to optimize system efficiency and scalability. Additionally, you will apply membrane science expertise to membrane analysis, characterization, and quantification, supporting technology selection and performance improvements. Staying abreast of advancements in separation technology, you will contribute to patents and scientific publications related to DAC applications.
