Salary
£35,156 per annum (pro rata). Progression from starting salary is reviewed annually from 1st April, subject to satisfactory performance and Community Energy Scotland’s financial status.
About the Role
Community Energy Scotland is recruiting a Senior Technical Officer to join their technical team, delivering a range of renewable energy projects and stand-alone technical work such as feasibility studies and options appraisals. This fixed-term appointment is initially for 1 year with the opportunity for extension. The role requires an energetic, well-organised self-starter with experience in at least two of the following areas: grid assessments, development of 30-50MW renewable generation projects, non-loan financing for renewable projects, cost estimation for renewable generation projects, and system integration of renewable generation projects to buildings or off-grid systems.
The Senior Technical Officer will support the Technical Director and Technical Manager to increase the capacity and expertise of the technical team, take responsibility for scoping and delivering technical projects to a high standard, and assist with project development and preparation of bids and tenders that further Community Energy Scotland’s aims.
Key responsibilities include identifying opportunities for innovative projects, developing bids and proposals, leading delivery of assigned technical projects, managing client relationships, providing expert technical input, ensuring excellent administration and data management, managing research and feasibility studies, and mentoring junior staff. The role involves a collaborative approach to knowledge sharing and proactive problem-solving throughout project delivery.
While the post currently does not include line management responsibilities, this may be considered in the future in discussion with the post-holder.
Experience
- Proven experience in technical project delivery including scoping technical work, writing bids and tenders, managing client relationships, and delivering projects on time and budget.
- Demonstrable skills in at least two of the following areas: grid assessments, development of 30-50MW renewable generation projects, non-loan financing for renewable projects, cost estimation for renewable generation projects, system integration of renewable generation projects to buildings or off-grid systems.
