Location
Hybrid work from SPA construction site offices across the Anglian Water region (minimum 3 days on site per week) and home. Operational hubs are located across the project area with the main office in Peterborough.

Full-time, Permanent. This role is expected to last approximately 1 year, until October 2026.

About the Role
Join Anglian Water's Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) as a Construction Environmental Manager and contribute to one of the UK's most ambitious water infrastructure projects. You will support the SPA Environmental Manager and Enabling Team in delivering strategic environmental priorities for the SPA project. Your responsibilities will include ensuring all relevant consents, licences, and environmental permits are in place for pipeline construction, developing and reviewing Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), and working collaboratively across SPA to ensure compliance with environmental requirements throughout delivery milestones. You will also support Environmental Advisors by providing advice and guidance to delivery teams, manage environmental risk, and lead training initiatives on environmental risk management. This role includes functional management of 1-2 Environmental Advisors and requires proactive engagement with regulators and stakeholders to maintain high environmental standards.

- Environmental permitting, licensing, and consenting applications and requirements
- Environmental incident investigation
- Construction within utilities (water sector)
- Contaminated land management
- Statutory nuisance and waste management
- Ecology knowledge
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Communicating effectively at all levels, negotiation, and conflict resolution
- Report writing and dashboard production

You are detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about environmental management within construction projects. You demonstrate integrity, ownership, and accountability for your work and continuously seek to improve processes. You are a clear and transparent communicator who acts ethically and puts the customer’s best interests at heart. You enjoy working collaboratively and leading teams to deliver environmental excellence.
Qualifications
- Degree in an environmental-related subject
- Membership of a relevant professional body with knowledge of key environmental legislation
- Full clean UK driving licence
