About the Role
This role is part of the Facilities Management (FM) team within the London Borough of Sutton. The FM Service supports approximately 50 corporate Council buildings, delivering services including FM Helpdesk, caretaking, post, cleaning, pest control, security, planned preventative maintenance, and reactive repairs. The team consists of 15 staff members working collaboratively to maintain these facilities.

As the Council’s dedicated Energy Officer, you will provide expert advice to the Council and all departments, managing the purchase, coordination, and contracts for gas, electricity, and water. You will evaluate energy and water consumption across the Council estate, develop policies and actions to reduce usage, and oversee low carbon capital funding schemes. Supporting colleagues in delivering capital projects across operational, leisure, and school portfolios will be key, alongside maximising funding opportunities such as the Climate Capital Fund and Green Buildings Fund.

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the Council’s environmental strategy and decarbonisation goals, helping shape a sustainable future for the Borough.

The Borough is known for high resident engagement and satisfaction, delivering quality services while addressing financial challenges.
