About the Role
This role supports the Council's environmental strategy and the decarbonisation of the estate. You will be responsible for the purchase, management, and coordination of the Council's gas, electric, and water contracts. The role involves evaluating energy and water usage within the Council, devising policies and actions to minimise consumption to meet set targets. You will oversee a programme of low carbon capital funding schemes and support colleagues in delivering capital projects across operational, leisure, and schools portfolios. Maximising the use of available funding to reduce operational emissions, including the Climate Capital Fund and Green Buildings Fund, is a key part of this role.

About the Borough
The London Borough of Sutton is located less than 30 minutes by train from Central London, with direct connections to London Victoria and London Bridge. Situated in zone 5 with excellent transport links, Sutton boasts award-winning parks and open spaces, low crime rates, affordable housing, and great schools. The borough is known for high levels of resident engagement and satisfaction, quality services, and success in addressing financial challenges while involving residents in key issues and high street changes. Home to the Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research, Sutton is developing the London Cancer Hub, aiming to be the world’s leading life-science district specialising in cancer research and treatment. This vision will create around 13,000 jobs and contribute £1.2bn annually to the UK economy. With regeneration projects including new homes and schools, Sutton is committed to working closely with residents and vulnerable groups to maintain independence and balance support with independent living. The Council is a driving force within the South London Partnership, focusing on strategic growth, regeneration, and investment. Sutton aims to shape the future of the borough to make it a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
