About the Role
Join the Guardian and be part of a diverse and inclusive global organisation committed to fearless investigative journalism and holding power to account. As a Sustainability Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and advancing the Guardian's high environmental standards and sustainability goals. You will manage the annual carbon auditing process, coordinating data collection across departments and working with external consultants to ensure robust results. You will support the rollout of climate literacy training, participate in industry initiatives such as Ad Net Zero, and embed sustainability initiatives across the business. This role offers significant visibility and influence within a small, central sustainability team, reporting to the Director of Sustainability & Operational Transformation. You will collaborate closely with teams across workplace, publishing, advertising, communications, and regional offices in the US and Australia. Responsibilities also include planning and delivering internal communications and events on sustainability topics, creating engaging materials, and championing sustainability action both within the Guardian and the wider media industry.
Experience
Proven project management skills including creating and managing project plans, driving delivery to deadlines, identifying risks, and managing stakeholder input. Experience or understanding of the digital and print media ecosystem is desirable. Strong data literacy with the ability to interpret and communicate data clearly, maintaining high data quality standards.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or professional experience in sustainability, environmental management, or related fields are advantageous but not explicitly required. A strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development is expected.
