About the Role
This is your chance to become part of the Selfridges sustainability team, pioneers in sustainability. Reporting to the Senior Responsible Sourcing Manager, the Sustainability Manager: Sustainable Products & Materials will be an expert in better materials sourcing, overseeing risk and opportunities in three key areas: Materials Edit, Prohibited Materials, and Green Claims.

Key responsibilities include managing the efficacy and compliance of the 'more sustainable' product pathway, increasing identification and capture of 'more sustainable' products, and expanding sustainable product criteria across departments. You will oversee the tracking and analysis of materials entering Selfridges and further advance Selfridges' own-brand product materials (GFR and GNFR). Acting as a source of knowledge and support for internal stakeholders on 'green claims' and upholding Selfridges' commitment not to sell products containing designated 'prohibited materials' are essential parts of the role.

Stakeholder engagement is critical, working closely with internal buying and retail teams as well as the Selfridges Group. You will support buying teams and brands with informed views on product risks and opportunities, build and maintain strong relationships with brands to align them with sustainable edit criteria, and be the experienced point of contact for queries related to sustainable products and materials.

You will liaise with key membership institutions to support the materials agenda, attend conferences or events as required, and help build and improve internal systems and processes to support key initiatives. Responsibilities also include owning internal communication, data tracking, return-to-vendor processes, supporting team strategy development, data compilation, monthly reporting, brand outreach, and managing the development and logistics of internal learning modules. Researching sustainability topics to support key projects and line managing a sustainability coordinator are also part of the role.
