About the Role
Storm overflows are a significant concern for our customers and stakeholders, and Southern Water is committed to leading the charge in resolving this issue. As part of our Clean Rivers & Seas Task Force, you will contribute to delivering pioneering, industry-leading solutions to reduce spills and reliance on storm overflows while enhancing the environment for our communities. This role supports a £1.5 billion programme over the next 10 years, expanding to deliver sustainable and innovative interventions to reduce storm overflow use.
This critical technical role involves analysing wastewater catchment performance, modelling scenarios, proposing and reviewing technical solutions, and monitoring programme performance. You will be responsible for the technical design and assurance of the storm overflow programme, providing input, options, challenge, steering, and governance to ensure technically feasible interventions are designed and delivered for our AMP8 programme.
You will lead the technical assurance of benefits from the storm overflow programme by designing monitoring programmes, conducting modelling and analysis to measure intervention benefits, and justifying our PR24 investment assumptions of circa £2 billion. Collaboration with internal technical leads, academia, the UK water industry, and the supply chain to support innovative analytical approaches will be a key part of your role.
This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing, engaged team delivering a large, innovative programme using sustainable and nature-based approaches to reduce storm overflow use and improve the environment. Join us and be part of the solution to a pressing environmental challenge.
