About the Role
Storm overflows are a significant concern for our customers and stakeholders, and Southern Water is committed to leading the charge in resolving this issue. As part of our Clean Rivers & Seas Task Force, you will contribute to implementing pioneering and industry-leading solutions to reduce spills and reliance on storm overflows, while enhancing the environment for our communities. Currently delivering a £1.5 billion programme over the next 10 years, we are expanding our team to deliver a larger programme of sustainable and innovative interventions to reduce storm overflow use.
This critical technical role involves ensuring a technically credible programme of works that delivers spill reductions where needed and at the right pace. You will analyse wastewater catchment performance, model scenarios, propose and review technical solutions, and monitor performance. You will be responsible for the technical design and assurance of the storm overflow programme, providing input, options, challenge, steering, and governance to ensure delivery of technically feasible interventions for our AMP8 programme.
You will lead the technical assurance of benefits from the storm overflow programme by designing monitoring programmes, conducting modelling and analysis to measure intervention benefits, and justifying our PR24 investment assumptions to secure circa £2 billion funding. You will also support innovative analytical approaches in collaboration with our Technical Lead, internal experts, academia, the UK water industry, and the supply chain.
This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing, highly engaged team delivering a large, innovative programme using sustainable and nature-based approaches to reduce storm overflow use and improve the environment. We are excited to invite you to be part of the solution.
