About the Role
Are you passionate about the natural world and ready to make a real impact in an urban environment? Become a Champion of Islington's Trees! The London Borough of Islington Tree Service invites you to apply for the role of Tree Inspector. You will help preserve and enhance Islington’s tree stock by inspecting council trees to ensure their structural safety and vitality, prescribing tree works to manage risk and aesthetics, and managing contractors and workflow associated with these prescriptions. You will also generate income through professional tree inspection skills and support Islington’s Canopy Cover agenda by aiding in tree planting and the delicate management of existing stock. As a key member of the Tree Service, you will work with internal and external clients including Housing estates, Highway Services, and Green Spaces. This role requires working both collaboratively and independently, making decisions as appropriate.

What’s in it for You?
Lead an exciting and impactful agenda with a dedicated team making Islington greener, healthier, and more sustainable. Engage residents and influence future generations regarding the borough’s natural environment. Be part of a dynamic, community-driven team working on diverse environmental projects that directly benefit local residents and visitors.

Our Offer to You
Up to 31 days leave per year, increasing to 36 days after five years of local government service. Flexible working arrangements to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Learning and development opportunities to maximise your potential. Competitive pay with a commitment to paying all staff at least the London Living Wage. Excellent local government pension scheme. Cycle to Work scheme and discounted gym memberships. Local discounts from restaurants, shops, health and beauty therapists, and more.

Additional Information
Priority will be given to those at risk of redundancy within Islington Council. The council operates a guaranteed interview scheme for candidates with disabilities who meet the minimum criteria and provides support for reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and career.
