About the Role
Are you passionate about trees, wildlife and tackling climate change? This role offers the chance to contribute to all three through the delivery of the successful Tree Chichester District project. As Tree Strategy Officer, you will secure external resources including grant capital funding, trees and ancillary items; identify potential planting sites by collaborating with landowners and stakeholders; develop a planting and maintenance plan following a “Right Tree, Right Place” approach; organize on-the-ground delivery involving landowners, farmers, parish councils, community groups and other stakeholders; monitor project success including estimating carbon sequestration by the trees; and report outcomes to funders, senior management, elected members, stakeholders and the community. You will be part of the Council’s dynamic Environmental Strategy team based in the scenic cathedral city of Chichester.
Experience
Proven experience managing tree, landscape or wildlife projects is essential.
About you
You are passionate about environmental issues, proactive in securing resources and engaging with multiple stakeholders. You have strong organizational and communication skills and are comfortable working across a large rural district.
Qualifications
A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant environmental field such as Environment, Ecology or Arboriculture is required. A full driving licence is essential due to the rural nature of the district.
