About the Role
The Royal Parks is a charity managing over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats, historic buildings, and monuments across eight iconic Royal Parks in London. We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced arboriculture professional to join our expert horticultural team as a Treescape Curator. This full-time, permanent role offers the opportunity to influence London’s green heritage and contribute to visible, long-lasting environmental improvements and cleaner air.

As a Treescape Curator, you will conserve and enhance the Royal Parks through resilient, biodiverse, and beautifully curated tree landscapes. Your focus will be on new planting opportunities, strategic pruning and thinning, and long-term tree management. You will play a key role in selecting and introducing suitable species and cultivars for future generations, differing from existing tree officer roles by concentrating on curated landscape aesthetics rather than risk or health and safety.

You will manage tree planting programmes emphasizing climate resilience and design-led schemes, identify areas for aesthetic and formative pruning, and guide teams to maintain high planting standards. Additional responsibilities include building strong relationships across internal teams and external experts, leading collaboration on major planting projects, contributing to park management plans aligned with the overall tree strategy, enhancing views and vistas, overseeing sourcing of new plant material, managing the new tree nursery, and providing leadership for the setup of a new tree growing facility planned in Bushy Park.

The role offers access to unique planting projects and a network of leading industry experts, providing a rare chance to innovate and work on a varied array of activities and projects in some of London’s most beautiful green spaces.

Benefits
Competitive salary, 26 days' annual leave plus public holidays, pension scheme (3% employee contribution; up to 10% employer contribution), private medical insurance and healthcare cash plan, employee assistance programme and access to mental health first aiders, learning and development opportunities, cycle to work scheme, and offices in a beautiful location.

Requirements

Experience
- Management level experience in curated landscape settings with emphasis on aesthetic integration of trees
- Experience working in public-facing spaces with sensitivity around tree removal, pruning, and relocation
- Proven ability to lead change and achieve outcomes across multi-site teams or functions
- Broad knowledge of native and non-native tree species and cultivars
- Strong understanding of best practice tree care balanced with landscape and visitor experience needs
- Engagement with the wider arboricultural and horticultural industry to stay current on resilient species and pest/disease insights

About you
Passionate about trees and landscapes, with excellent communication and leadership skills. You are innovative, collaborative, and committed to enhancing urban green spaces for future generations.

Qualifications
A Level 4 Diploma in Arboriculture or equivalent qualification is required.
